Bio / Artist statement
A developing artist profile for William Roche, ready to refine with exact biography details, exhibition history, studio location, and commission information.
William Roche creates expressive abstract and mixed media works shaped by colour, texture, landscape memory, and the physical act of making. His surfaces often carry evidence of construction: torn paper, visible edges, repeated marks, scraped lines, and layered pigment.
The work moves between abstraction and place. A painting might begin with a horizon, a mountain shape, a remembered view, or a material impulse, but it is resolved through layering and response rather than literal depiction.
Across the current body of work, William returns to atmosphere, pressure, and the tension between softness and structure. The paintings invite close looking, rewarding the viewer with marks and textures that reveal themselves slowly.
His wider story also includes recovery, resilience, and the long process of returning to creativity after a life-changing experience as a young man in San Francisco. That story is being developed through Breaking Back, a book project connected to the same thread of survival and art.
This page can be expanded with confirmed exhibition history, collector notes, commission process, studio photographs, and a fuller biography when those details are ready.

Ideas for the next phase
The site is now more than a holding page. The next improvements should help people understand the work, enquire with confidence, and return as the archive grows.
Add a fuller archive with filters for available work, sold work, landscapes, collage, and studies.
Create short journal entries showing process photos, materials, and the story behind selected pieces.
Add a simple contact form or dedicated commission page when an email address and workflow are confirmed.
